Background
FIX8Group was commissioned to deliver the technical production for Selco’s Annual Business Conference, this year held at the InterContinental Hotel, London. The event brought senior management to the venue for a series of presentations and discussion, and also to celebrate the company’s 125th year of trading.
The event required a large-format, high-resolution LED screen to create an impressive centrepiece for the staging and to ensure the team had a clear, bright and engaging presentation canvas from which to communicate ideas and developments.
FIX8Group have worked with Selco for more than three years, helping the company to implement technical production for events that convey their key messages as well as providing a visual backdrop for entertainment evenings.
The challenge
The overall budget for the event meant that we needed to deliver the event within tight financial constraints. Although small in relative terms, the project required a professional and impressive visual solution to ensure its success. FIX8Group needed to design and deliver the technical production and build in a short space of time, with a high level of attention to detail.
The solution
The FIX8Group team specified a 10m x 3.6m ROE CB3 LED screen, which was built at the back of the stage as a full, high-resolution visual backdrop. The stage was designed to extend forward 3m from the screen, providing ample space for presenters and panel sessions to take place.
We chose a d&b point source system to provide even audio coverage across the entire room, ensuring intelligibility of all audio across the audience area. regardless of seating position. Two parallel trusses were hung across the room to facilitate lighting and audio rigging.
All content was created specifically to the resolution of the screen, and this gave the designers the ability to build highly dynamic and impactful graphs and statistics, enhancing the liveliness of each presentation. Thanks to the large screen size, all attendees had a clear and unobstructed view.
The audio equipment set up was flexible, allowing for the evening entertainment of a comedian and DJ to be presented using the same screen, audio and lighting arrangement.

Conclusion
With a proven track record of delivering on-budget and on-target technical production for Selco, FIX8Group has formed a relationship based on trust, integrity and the confidence. Although this was a modest sized event it allowed us to demonstrate our ability to adapt to events of differing scale while continuing to deliver a high-level of attention to detail, project management and technical design.
